HISTORY
The New York
Appraisal Management Company
was formed in 1995 and our goal at that time was to take advantage of the
growing technological revolution in order to make the appraisal process more
efficient. Our goal remains the same today as we are focused on providing
the highest level of customer satisfaction to our clientele.
Since 1995, we have
worked with hundreds of clients and maintain a stellar reputation for
delivering a high quality product in the shortest possible time. As a
result of our years of experience, we are able to deliver our appraisal
reports faster than our competition.
Our appraisal
reports are used for a variety of functions including mortgage lending,
quality control, loss mitigation, tax certori, estate planning, financial
planning, marital resolution and as a guide for buyers and sellers.
QUALIFICATIONS
The New York
Appraisal Management Co.
is
headed by Albert Gabberty and Ted Zarembo. Together, Al and Ted offer more
than 50 years of experience in the valuation industry.
Albert Gabberty
has been focusing on residential valuation for 20 years and holds the SRA
designation from the Appraisal Institute. Albert is a New York State
approved appraisal instructor and committee chair for the New York City
Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. Currently, Albert is a state certified
appraiser in both New York and Connecticut.
During his career
Albert has served as the Vice-President of Settlement Services for a top-10
mortgage lender, Regional Chief Appraiser a national settlement
services company and held this same position for a national due diligence
firm serving the capital markets. Albert started the New York Appraisal Management Co. in 1995 which
specializes in residential valuations and appraisal reviews.
Ted Zarembo
has been in the valuation industry for more than 30 years and holds
designations from the Appraisal Institute, Counselors of Real Estate and the
Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
During his career,
Ted has held the position of Assistant Vice President at Chemical Bank,
Senior Vice-President at CB Richard Ellis and Chief Appraiser/SVP at the
Greater New York Savings Bank. Most recently, Ted worked with the R.V.I.
Group and was responsible for underwriting, due diligence, appraisal
administration and new product development.
Ted recently joined
the New York Appraisal Management Company and is the managing partner of the
commercial business unit.

the Appraisal Institute
The Appraisal
Institute is an international membership association of professional real
estate appraisers, with more than 21,000 members and 99 chapters throughout
the United States, Canada and abroad. Its mission is to support and advance
its members as the choice for real estate solutions and uphold professional
credentials, standards of professional practice and ethics consistent with
the public good.
The Appraisal Institute is the acknowledged worldwide leader in residential
and commercial real estate appraisal education, research,
publishing and professional membership
designation programs. Its extensive
curriculum of courses and specialty seminars provides a well-rounded
education in
valuation methodology for both the novice and seasoned practitioner.
The Appraisal Institute also houses the

Members of the Appraisal Institute form a network of highly qualified
professionals throughout the United States and abroad. They are identified
by their experience in and knowledge of real estate valuation and by their
adherence to a strictly enforced
Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Membership is open to appraisal practitioners as well as to individuals from
allied fields. Designated members may hold the MAI, SRPA or SRA membership
designation. Currently, the Appraisal Institute confers one general
(commercial) designation, the MAI, and one residential designation, the SRA.
The associate member category is for individuals who engage in activity
governed by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Affiliate membership is open to individuals who are not performing USPAP-related
work but wish to be allied with the Appraisal Institute such as bankers,
attorneys, and government agency representatives.
The Appraisal Institute is committed to creating a progressive environment
for minorities and women who are interested in membership in the
organization and pursuing a career as a professional real estate appraisers
and analyst. We have worked to
enhance diversity in the real estate appraisal profession and the
association through our
Membership Diversity Committee.
As the world’s largest publisher of real estate appraisal literature, the
Appraisal Institute offers a wide range of books and other materials on a
variety of subjects ranging from basic valuation theory and techniques to
advanced applications. The Appraisal Institute is also the publisher of
The Appraisal Journal, long respected for its authoritative and
well-researched articles, and the industry business magazine,
Valuation Insights & Perspectives. And for our Internet audience,
Appraiser News Online offers regular updates on the appraisal industry.
The Appraisal Institute is also active in
advocacy efforts on behalf of its members and the industry at large.
Primarily through its Public Affairs office in Washington, D.C., the
organization communicates regularly with legislators and regulators to
encourage the adoption of appraisal policies that best serve the public
interest.
Appraisal Institute designated members have met rigorous requirements
relating to education, testing, experience and demonstration of knowledge,
understanding and ability. Most designated members hold one or more of the
following designations:

The
MAI
membership designation is held by appraisers who are experienced in the
valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and
other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate
investment decisions. The current requirements that an appraiser must
fulfill to receive the MAI designation are as follows:

Education:
-
Receive a
passing grade on 11 examinations that reflect 380 hours of classroom
instruction and that test the appraiser’s knowledge of basic and advanced
appraisal principles, procedures and applications; report writing;
valuation analysis and standards of professional practice

Receive a
passing grade on a four-module, two-day comprehensive examination
-
Hold an
undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited educational institution
Experience:
Receive credit for 6,000 hours of experience, including 3,000 hours of
specialized appraisal experience, all of which must meet strict criteria.
Demonstration Report: Receive credit for a demonstration appraisal report
relating to income-producing property that demonstrates the ability to
present a properly supported value estimate or opinion evaluating the
nature, quality or utility of a parcel of real estate or any interest in, or
aspect of, real property, including handling physical incurable
depreciation, or fulfill an approved comparable alternative.

The SRA
professional membership designation is held by real estate solutions
providers who are experienced in the analysis and valuation of
residential real property. The current requirements that an appraiser
must fulfill to receive the SRA designation are as follows |
Education:
-
Receive a
passing grade on six examinations that reflect 200 hours of classroom
instruction and that test the appraiser’s knowledge of appraisal
principles, residential valuation techniques, report writing and standards
of professional practice

Hold an
Associate degree from an accredited educational institution (or satisfy a
specified alternative)
Experience:
Receive credit for 3,000 hours of Residential Appraisal Experience (must
cover at least 24-months).
Demonstration Report: Receive credit for a demonstration appraisal report
relating to a residential property that demonstrates the ability to present
a properly supported value estimate or opinion evaluating the nature,
quality, or utility of a parcel of real estate or any interest in, or aspect
of, real property, or fulfill an approved comparable alternative.
